Important Update regarding the Minnesota AHEC Network
The Minnesota Area Health Education Center (AHEC) Network has supported the health professional workforce needs of rural and urban underserved Minnesota communities through community-campus partnerships across Minnesota for ten years.
With complex issues surrounding the uncertainty in federal funding for the program, increased performance reporting requirements and the lack of community-based funding, the Minnesota AHEC Network will be closing by the end of summer 2014.
Over the years, the Minnesota AHEC Network has forged numerous community partnerships, supported pre-health and current health professions students, and played a critical role in addressing the state's health workforce needs. Thank you to our regional staff members, as well as the community board members and partners who have committed themselves to improving the health of Minnesota.
The student outreach efforts that were led by the Minnesota AHEC Network will continue. The University of Minnesota’s Academic Health Center remains committed to community-based education and training.
