AHC Strategic Goals


The Academic Health Center (AHC) strategic plan was revised and finalized in February 2005.  The AHC Office of Education contributes to the achievement of the AHC strategic plan by supporting its stated goals through a variety of interconnected approaches.

AHC Strategic Goals Supported by the AHC Office of Education

AHC Strategic Goal 1
Create and prepare the new health professionals for Minnesota.

Strategic objectives
1.0 Develop and implement interdisciplinary health professional education opportunities.
2.0 Develop new models for funding of health professional education.
3.0 Monitor and assess the health professional workforce needs of Minnesota and adjust enrollments to meet those needs.
4.0 Promote a culture of life-long learning for health professionals.
5.0 Provide for the next generation of academic health science faculty.
6.0 Promote excellence in education.

AHC Strategic Goal 3
Expedite the dissemination and application of new knowledge into the promotion of health and delivery of health care in Minnesota.

Strategic objectives
1.0 Strengthen the connections between the Academic Health Center and the community in the generation of new biomedical technology and services.
2.0 Foster the state's economy through sustaining a healthy work force.
4.0 Provide knowledge and technical assistance to communities.

AHC Strategic Goal 5
Reduce health disparities in Minnesota and address the needs of the state's diverse populations.

Strategic objectives
1.0 Enhance diversity within the health professional schools and improve the culture of the AHC to be more supportive of all students, staff, and faculty.
2.0 Teach health professional students the skills to care for and promote the health of individuals from diverse ethnic, cultural, and racial backgrounds.

Use information technology to transform how we educate, conduct research and provide service to individuals and cummunities in Minnesota.

1.0 Integrate information technology into the education of our students.
2.0 Make health information accessible.

AHC Strategic Goal 7
Build a culture of service and accountability to Minnesota.

2.0 Strengthen faculty governance.
