The Office of Education supports programs that create real-world opportunities for students to develop their skills. Increasingly, the education of future health professionals is happening within community clinics and sites, where the public most often receives care.
Community-based educational programs benefit everyone: students get to translate classroom knowledge into real world skills; they help underserved communities who, in turn, gain access to recent innovations in health care; and students can build relationships within rural and urban communities where they may decide to practice in the future.
Minnesota Area Health Education Center (MN AHEC)
By working with Academic Health Center (AHC) schools, the Minnesota Area Health Education Center (MN AHEC) helps students explore health careers, gain experiential training in rural communities, and support health professionals practicing in greater Minnesota.
